Morris County Public Safety Complex
Parsippany, New Jersey
In association with USA Architects, M&E Engineers provided the engineering design for a new addition to the Public Safety Complex for Morris County. The complex houses the new 911 call center, data center, police offices, crime labs and the office of emergency management. The new Public Safety Access Points (PSAP) has 32 dispatch stations.
M&E designed redundant 750 kW diesel generators and a 300 kW UPS System for back-up. Mechanical systems include: two 130 ton Chillers, Rooftop Air Handlers, Energy Recovery Air Handlers (Labs), Boiler, Domestic Water Booster Pump, Domestic Hot Water Heater, and Fire Protection (dry, wet, and clean agent) systems.
Regional Operations Intelligence Center
Ewing, New Jersey
In order to improve the services provided by the New Jersey State Police Emergency Operations Center during times of emergency, a 12,960 sq ft expansion to the second floor was added for a new 911 Statewide Call Center, Regional Operations Intelligence Center, and office area.
M&E worked hand in hand with Staikos Associates Architects. Scope of work included UPS Systems, Grounding of Motorola Radio Systems (R56), Geothermal Heat Pump Systems, and Fire Protection and Detection Systems. Geothermal modeling and analysis were also performed.
Verizon Chiller Plants
New Brunswick, New Jersey
M&E Engineers performed design for replacement of three complete chiller plants, ATC systems, and associated electrical equipment. Project work included two 500 ton N+1 water cooled chiller plants, one 125 ton N+1 air cooled chiller plant with full chilled water economizer capabilities, associated supporting power equipment (MCC with integral VFD capability), and up-grade of ATC systems including all AHU control values, damper controls, and new front end.
The project received over $125,000 in energy incentive funding from the NJ Smart Start energy rebate program, and saves over $100,000 per month in avoided electricity costs. Construction costs were $5Million and building size was 268,850 square feet.
