The goal of green design is to create high-performance buildings. Often called “sustainable design”, it is a comprehensive and integrated approach to the art of designing and operating buildings. It ensures conservation of energy, water and natural resources. It promotes a healthier indoor environment, which improves the quality of life. If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem.

We have an obligation to
design and engineer our projects responsibly. We take the environmental and
energy impact of our work very seriously and strive to be leaders in the area
of sustainable design. Both new and existing buildings can be certified by
the U.S. Green Building Council if they meet certain goals, and can be certified
at Silver, Gold or Platinum levels if they exceed the basic requirements.
We are members of the USGBC LEED Green Building Program and are Energy Star
Partners. Beyond this, we are experts in other energy-related programs and
areas, such as Smart Start (with incentive rebates) and Labs 21.
